Tackling Sky-High Energy Costs
Sometimes it seems like nothing ever changes. Except the numbers. In the 1980’s, energy resources and utility price hikes were big issues. At the time, our courageous leader, Janice Godwin, was the Director of Corporate Communications for El Paso Electric. The price for oil was projected to be $32 a barrel! She developed a one word ad campaign to spread awareness of the issue in two states. “Crude” referred to not just the oil, but the obscene price tags that went along with it. Today that barrel of oil hovers at $100 per. Outrageous, and still crude!
