Saving Lives Through Education

When the Austin Fire Department reported the worst fatality rate on record due to non-working smoke alarms, we jumped into action. We developed a pro-bono marketing campaign to help raise awareness about some of the most common causes of fires. Some of the most effective pieces of the campaign were door hangers, which firefighters went door to door placing on area residences.

The following year, there were NO deaths related to non-working smoke alarms in Austin. A decade after the launch of the campaign, we continue to receive calls from cities in the U.S. and Canada that want to implement it in their community.
