Expanding Women’s Influence in the Motorcycle Industry

When a client brings us a new project or idea, we take their vision and run with it. In the case of women and motorcycles, we really had to quickly become Revved-Up.

Overall motorcycle sales have been declining for years. But, more and more women of all age, ethnic and career groups were getting into motorcycle riding. A match made in heaven, our client said, who by the way has nothing to do with motorcycles except the one he rides.

Only two of our staff had ever been on a motorcycle. Creative Director Chris was even in a club in his much younger days, but hasn’t ridden in years. Tammy has only ridden on the back of her husband’s bike–grudgingly. The only two wheels Janice knows don’t have an engine—only pedal power. That didn’t stop us for one minute. It turned out to be challenging, but great fun and great people. Here’s what happened: we…

  • Went into the community of women who rode and those who wanted to.
  • Talked to the manufacturers and industry leaders.
  • Got a great venue (a world-renowned quarter horse racing track in San Antonio, Texas) to give us a great deal.
  • From the ground up, the first womens event with motorcycle and gear manufacturers and actual riders came together. We got everyone talking and exchanging ideas.

As part of the outreach, another opportunity came up. The premier online magazine for women who ride motorcycles and the men who ride with them became available. Women Riders Now.com. We now manage it from editorial to outreach to advertising. Living the dream.

Then it happened. Women liked being heard and wanted more. Women Riders Now, in collaboration with Revved-Up Women, started Revved-Up Women Influencers to bridge the gap between consumers and motorcycle/gear manufacturers. Our influencers will have lots of opportunities:

  • Paid participation in research design projects
  • Events and rides
  • Online surveys and discussions
  • Mentoring and more!

Can’t wait for the next great idea.
